Second Graders in Mrs. Simms class had a Grinchy celebration today. They did ALL things Grinch today, learned about kindness and growing the Grinch’s heart, and wrote about what they would do to make the Grinch grin! They finished the day building a sleigh to carry presents up Mount Crumpit. What fun!

Did you know that Dr. Capellini works with students as young as 3 that aren't yet enrolled in public school that have speech and language impairments? Come and see the cute holiday happenings in her room. Students are working on labeling vocabulary, requesting items, syllable shapes to form words, prepositions, and verbs all through play! If you have a concern about a younger child (age 2 by September 30th of the current school year), please call 540-825-3677 and request a free developmental or speech and language screening. Guidelines for speech and language milestones can be accessed at https://www.asha.org/public/developmental-milestones/communication-milestones/ Research shows that children who are delayed in speech and language skills and who receive early intervention are more likely to achieve positive outcomes in multiple areas of development.

Mrs. Settle's class has been working hard while still getting into the winter spirit! They've been solving fun winter/ holiday word problems, practicing time by helping Santa read clocks and stay on schedule, and also practiced fractions and prior skills with a math "snowball fight!" Today, students worked on some addition and subtraction with regrouping problems that they decorated and glued on to some winter wreaths!

Miss Hixson's class spent a few minutes learning about applesauce today.  The students learned the process, from picking the apples to the end result, a yummy treat!  Students then enjoyed an applesauce pouch sent all the way from Motts in Upstate New York, where Miss Hixson's cousin works.  These Stallions are always learning!! 🍎😋

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Ms. Heaney’s reading class has been exploring the Native American culture through an online reading platform. They learned about Native American homes in addition to their traditional music and instruments. Students also had books in the Diversity Den for silent reading time. It’s been a great month of honoring Native Americans!

Hello parents! If you are reading this post, run to the closest sharpie in your house and use it to write your child's name in their coat. Most children's coats have a place inside where you can do this, or just write their name on the tag. This will help us make sure that your student has their coat for these cold days that have arrived and will be here through the winter. It will also help to cut down on the amount of lost and found we collect each day. Lunchboxes are a great item to label as well! Thanks for your consideration!
