Mrs. Houck's PE students have been busy. Our 3rd through 5th graders are relearning and playing Cats and Rats and Froot Loop. These two games help students learn spatial awareness. Our 1st and 2d grade students have been relearning warm-ups and running activities . These exercises get the body ready for activity. Our kindergartners are busy practicing tossing and catching. They are learning hand eye coordination.

Mrs. Hooks kindergarten class read the story “The Dot” by Peter Reynolds and then created an artwork inspired by the book!

This week our Pre-K students are learning all about rules. Today they learned what rules are and why we have rules. They were learning the Listening Rules during SEL time, reading a story called Listening Time, and playing Simon Says to practice following rules. Later this week they will work together to use pictures to develop their classroom rules , and they will sort pictures onto their Green and Red Choice charts to help them remember ways to follow rules at school vs. breaking them. They are also working hard to follow rules and earn 10 stars in their Star Jar for their first trip to their classroom Treasure Box!

Mrs. Gomez's kindergarteners are having a great start to the year! They are exercising their way to 100 and building social skills while creatively exploring STEM bins.

Mrs. Beards class has had a spectacular week. Students created a kindness web where they shared compliments or kind words with each other, explored STEM tubs, and used Mystery Boxes to practice counting and drawing representations of objects!

Mrs. Foster's class is getting right down to business and learning how to count by 2s using cubes.

Mrs. Korona's second grade art students are gearing up for an amazing year of art projects. Right now, they are creating their portfolios to store all of their wonderful pieces!

Mrs. Dillon’s 3rd grade class had fun in Math by making a “Seasons of our Birthdays” graph! Once we categorized the months into seasons, each student added a tally mark to represent the season of their birthday month. Then, as a class, we created a bar graph and discussed the results! In an effort to extend our learning, students were asked to write their birthday date and draw a small self-portrait. Students then glued these onto the bar graph, creating a pictograph right on top! A double graph had their minds poppin’! We are excited to use this chart in our classroom this year, to help remember everyone’s special day!

Mrs. Cruz's class is off to a great start with picking books from our classroom library and developing independent reading stamina! There were collective groans when it was time to stop for today, which means we have some kiddos who LOVE reading!

Brain bins are an important part of Mrs. Zajkowski's morning work routine. When using them, the students have the opportunity to communicate, collaborate, and be creative! Here's to a great fifth grade year!

From the desk of our new Dean of Students, Mr. Slezak; "It may be a new school for me but I am so happy to see some familiar faces! I am excited to be here and look forward to the opportunity to learn and grow each day. Thank you Mrs. Fiscus and Go Stallions!"
